In the ancient language, sanskrit, of the Vedic Wisdom of North India, Agni is the vital fire of all life. The sound AGNIM is the sound of the creation of the universe which is going on all the time.
Within every person there is a fire and a universe. The fire of innocence has dwelled in the silence of oppression and neglect for too long. Lack of acknowledgement and respect has led to silence of the fire of initiatives among Norwegian immigrants.
Africans and many other non-Western cultures are admired for strength, suppleness and artistic skills. African cultures are known to enhance creative, inventive and communicative features. Some of these features are not commonly mastered or even known in Norwegian society. To the trout Norwegian average, these qualities provide an extra dimension of joyous surprise - once there is a closer aquantenance. Thus, the average Norwegian, out of politeness, will not even look at someone he or she has not been introduced to.
All the while, most immigrants are not aware what fortune of gifts they are mastering, just because they are a part of their cultural habit.
The role of AGNIM is to be a connecting link between the needs of the Norwegian society and the skills of the immigrant, as well as between the migrant's needs and the possibilities in the Norwegian society.
AGNIM is founded to kindle the fire of initiatives to support any positive creation of business, workshops, productions, information or other creations from the side of Norwegian immigrants.
AGNIM can convey contacts into Norwegian clubs, organizations, families, foundations of innumerable kinds and interests to suit the immigrant's background. To find activities that an immigrant would be longnig to be a part of again. This would imply learning of those things that are necessary to make a Norwegian feel comfortable and at home with a foreigner - Norwegian habits, customs and language. Then giving contacts and social network. It would not least give a record to be documented into a CV.
AGNIM hopefully will be a forum. A forum for African cultures to represent courses for the adult Norwegian society. These courses need to be offered to companies, educators and employers. This is needed in order to educate Norwegian key persons into a graeater understanding of the non-Norwegian. It will give a greater appreciation for and co-operation with immigrants. Thereby open doors to school system, health system, police system, community system, companies and so on. To the average Norwegian adult person therse courses will be of interest.
Your participation and assistance in AGNIM is free. But you are expected to present a considerable effort to achieve your goals.
